The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was given jawami’ al-kalim: speech that was brief yet complete in meaning. He spoke slowly enough to be counted, repeated only what needed repeating, and said in a sentence what others would labour over in a paragraph. People listened, and they remembered.
How a teacher speaks shapes what a student hears. The same instruction can create clarity or confusion, trust or distance, depending entirely on delivery. This two hour session works on the three moments where a teacher’s communication matters most: giving instructions, listening to students, and handling a conversation that has become difficult.
Practical throughout. Participants speak, practise, and receive feedback rather than sit and listen.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Give instructions students follow the first time — using clear, sequenced, and appropriately brief language, and checking for understanding rather than assuming it.
Listen in a way students can feel — demonstrating active listening through attention, pause, and response, so that a student knows they have actually been heard.
What Participants Take Away
- Aone pageinstructionclarity checklist for daily use.
- Three listening prompts that work in a busy classroom.
- A four step structure for opening a difficult conversation
- One specific, written commitment to apply within the week.
